If Your Vehicle Won’t Shine Up Like It Used To …

If your aging vehicle does not seem to shine up like it used to, even after a good wax, it is an excellent candidate for paint correction.

Many people think they automatically need a repaint, but a repaint decreases the value of the vehicle and can cost several thousand dollars!

If there is no rust present, you can save thousands of dollars by letting Automorphic Detailing repair the clear coat.

Paint Correction is an amazingly meticulous process for reviving your car paint to such a level of brilliance, it often looks better than it did when you bought the vehicle.

It was during the 1980s that mainstream car manufacturers began applying several layers of “clear coat” on top of automotive paint, in hopes of extending the paint’s shine.

Your clear coat protects your paint, but what protects your clear coat?

Today, it is usually the scratched and mottled clear coat, and not your paint directly, that takes the beating from the climate, the environment, and road hazards. It is also a damaged clear coat that causes your car to look faded, show scratches, or display swirl marks, streaks, and holograms.

A few thwacks from an opened car door; rubbing up against your vehicle with rough clothing like denim and wool; bumping your car with keys, a grocery bag, or purse; bug detritus and bird droppings; environmental fallout and chemicals; and water spots and streaks caused by not drying your vehicle after a rain – all contribute to the dulling of your paint via the clear coat.

Using the most cutting-edge buffer technology and a precision polishing technique to remove a minuscule layer of damaged clear coat – about 1/100th of the thickness of a sheet of typing paper – Automorphic Detailing will then skillfully machine polish it out to an extraordinary gloss.

New cars, aging cars, neglected cars and classics may all benefit from paint correction.

New cars may need a light paint correction to remove light scratches and distortions in the paint due to robotic painters at the factory.

Any vehicle over two or three years old that has not had a ceramic coating applied, will probably require a two-step paint correction to remove faded and oxidized paint as well as embedded contaminants and distortions.

Any vehicle over 10 years old with its original paint that has never been detailed, will likely require a deeper dive into the paint to determine how much clear coat (if any) is left and how best to retore its luster.

Always Use a Certified Detailer & Paint Specialist

As you can imagine, paint correction should only be performed by an experienced and certified detailer.

Much of the paint correction work we do at Automorphic Detailing is correcting mistakes like holograms, swirl marks, and burned paint, caused by inexperienced detailers wielding a too-hot power buffer.

A lack of understanding or experience at paint correction can do more harm than good to the exterior of your vehicle.

Ronnie and Sheng are experts at detailing, paint correction and the installation of ceramic coatings. Not only are they trained on how to correctly measure the thickness of the paint so they can determine how much clear coat to safely remove, but they are also properly trained and equipped with the finest, safest, and most effective professional equipment to ensure they do not burn the paint during the finely-tuned polishing process.

Removing Swirls and Scratches To Get The Most Gloss From Your Paint

Our Paint Correction is aimed to remove 60% to 80% of the swirl, scratches and imperfections from your paint. The process will be cutting and polishing which is a 2 step correction to get the most gloss and clarity from the paint.

Depending the condition of the paint, some scratches will not come out all the way because they are too deep passing the clear coat but again this correction is not to remove 100% of the imperfections but to get to a level that the paint is in great condition.

New off the lot will still need a certain degree of paint correction because its been sitting in the lot and during that time the car was processed, transported, washed and handled by many people.

The 2 step paint correction is a commitment that you’re making to your vehicle. If you like to keep the shine and protection on your paint, it will have you properly maintain the vehicle after the service is done. With the wrong set of tools and products when washing and drying, you can put back the swirls and scratches back to your paint in just little time.
